Ramblings

Yesterday was an amazing day. I went to see the RSC performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream in Stratford and it just blew me away. They used second world war and present day type costumes as opposed to the more traditional ones which made my parents raise their eyebrows a little, but I promise you it was the best performance I have ever seen of it in my whole life. I was almost crying with laughter the whole way through. When it got to the end part where Pyramus and Thisbe attempt to kiss through the chink in the wall the whole audience just screamed with laughter. The wall itself was played by a man in his underwear who was holding a box above his head, and Thisbe kisses this mans behind instead of Pyramus. Ok, I admit you probably had to be there to appreciate it, but Jo, I promise you whenever you make it to the UK, you are not getting away without seeing at least one performance at the Royal Shakespeare Company:D

On the not so bright side, it was so cold out yesterday that it has encouraged my cough to return somewhat. However I think it was well worth it. Oh, and I managed to sweet talk the box office into changing our tickets in the gods for ones in the stalls. We were four rows from the front of the stage:D

Nice - I saw an excellent Hamlet there a few years back just after Bush got elected so they had a modern setting with Claudius in the style of an American president. Sam West was a superb Hamlet too

I am so envious, I love all of Shakespeare's comedies but never get to see anything but movies. :(

If you were there, then I was there by osmosis. It sounds bawdy and wonderful. I love you and that cough better just piss right off!

I haven't been around but I do have a good excuse. I managed, through plenty of fault of my own, to get flu on top of my mono. It has been quite an educational experience. I have learned that I REALLY didn't want to go do that.

I am now recovering from the flu finally I think, but I have a patch of infection in my chest which means that the house needs to be at the approximate temperature of the surface of the sun for me to avoid pneumonia. As a result I have been spending about 16 hours a day sleeping just to avoid having to deal with that crap.

We have a friend arriving on tuesday to stay for a few days which is wonderful but he is going to be there on my three busiest days of the month. I have a rheumatologists appointment for my hands on tuesday afternoon, then another appointment in the evening. Then I have occupational therapy on wednesday, and on thursday I have a long standing date with my parents to go to see the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford. A Midsummer Nights Dream is being performed this season and I didn't want to miss out on that.

Still, it will be good to see him. It is an excuse to eat junk food and watch movies all day, not that I have needed much of an excuse of late:P

Anyways, I think I might go lie down again in a minute, I was only up to check to see if Occam was around. Hopefully I will be back on my feet and therefore back on my computer properly soon. Getting no work done is really infuriating!

So that's why the sun stopped shining. I miss you and hope you recover quickly. There's mischief that's being left undone!

Doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.

Really...I know some people might think... "Wow, mono AND the flu?? Sign me up!" To me, I'd have to say... eh, I'll pass.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

I am visiting friends at the moment in exotic Reading. It is really good to catch up and have quality girl time. I have missed oestrogen dammit!

I had a few annoyances today, the train journey was DIRE and I had to be crammed into standing room only so my spine and hips are now voicing their displeasure at about a thousand decibels.

I also haven't slept for over 30 hours and I forgot my toothbrush and my hairbrush. I will have to remedy that tomorrow and just rinse my mouth tonight and feel icky as penance for my lapse.

Tomorrow I get to stretch my brain some as I am going to be researching some legal stuff. It has been a while since I had my law head on so I am going to be rusty as all hell, but this is the price of having amazingly academic friends. I so need to get my ass into gear and get a PhD just so I can keep up.

This has turned out to be a happy day, and for those of you who know me best, you know how rare such times are.

Now, sleep I think:P

The train ride sounds nasty but you get to be with your friends and that is always great.

Get that rust out of there! I think getting a PhD is a great thing and I think you would do very well at it.

Happy days, truely happy days, are a blessing. Enjoy the time.

Sleep well.

Hmmm

I think when I have done with my current painting projects, I really want to work on some writing. It has been way too long and it is becoming an uncontrollable itch that needs scratching.

I am trying to decide if I should serialise it on here, just to force myself to finish it, but I do want it to ultimately be novel length. I think it might also be harder for me if I do it that way and I am scared of rambling and going south of the plot.

If I do decide to do it that way, how many of you would be interested in seeing it and giving me honest feedback? I know I am going to need some hardcore editing regardless of what I do:P

I have been neglecting it for too long and I was actually an english major, believe it or not.
